Wilmington National Cemetery

Located in New Hanover County near downtown Wilmington, North Carolina, on the Cape Fear River, is the famed Wilmington National Cemetery.

Administered by the New Bern National Cemetery, it encompasses 5.1 acres and was once administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, where you can see its listing here.

The land was purchased from a local Wilminton resident by the federal government in 1867, with most of the original interments being remains moved from Wilmington City Cemetery and nearby forts, such as Fort Fisher.
